“Springhill is a pretty white-fronted 17th century house which was home to the Conyngham family for three hundred years. It was given to the National Trust by William Lowry Lenox-Conyngham in 1957, in a will signed only three days before his death. As well as being a lovely family home, the house is also reputed to be the home of Ireland’s best attested ghost - the spirit of Olivia Conyngham, wife of George Lenox-Conyngham. The Blue Room is the eeriest room in the house - the temperature is said to drop dramatically there due to the events that took place there in 1816. George Lenox Conyngham is said to have suffered from a terrible depression after the loss of his army commission. As a result he shot himself with a pistol in the Blue Room. Olivia, fearing what he was about to do, apparently ran to her husband but was too late. Her ghost has been seen many times, seemingly repeating the desperate dash to her husband’s side. She has also seen tenderly watching over the Lenox-Conyngham children. The house is also well-known for the largest costume collection in Northern Ireland which is housed in the old laundry. Established by Lord Clanwilliam in 1960 the collection contains items dating from 1790 to 1950 including an embroidered dress from 1856 decorated with nearly a thousand green iridescent beetle wings. Other items of interest in the house include the 3000 volumes of seventeenth and eighteenth century books - one of the most important collections of literature in Ireland. ”

“Thanks very much for your help. Gone out and got a 1Gb card and all is now loaded. One way of rating a company is the back up support and you score 10/10 .”
Graham, London

“The content is good and the level of detail about right, enough to pique your interest but not so much that you feel you're attending a lecture.”
Sam, Manchester
