About RoadTour

Introduction

RoadTour was launched in September 2007 with the express goal of helping people enjoy their journeys. We spend a lot of time just travelling when we could be exploring, learning and enjoying.

We aim to achieve that by bringing high-quality audio, video and reviews to people on the go; content relevant to where people are, delivered through GPS enabled technologies such as Sat-Navs, iPhones and other mobile-GPS devices.

Partners

We now work with Garmin, Apple and Microsoft with whom we’ve launched dozens of products bringing rich content to travellers on the go. We build our own content and work with well known content providers too such as Frommer’s and the AA, to build products which work perfectly on small devices.

Company background

Daniel Taylor, with a background in mobile GPS technologies and a fascination with history, started RoadTour having experienced a handheld audio-tour around the Roman remains at Bath. Keen to bring this sort of fascinating historical content to families driving around the UK, he formed an experienced and passionate team who built the first product; a Historical Tour of Britain covering 600 of the most impressive castles, stately homes, palaces and parks around the UK. This is now available on Garmin and shortly launching on the iPhone.

Future development

Building on the success of that product, the business has since launched Restaurant Guides, Scenic Drives, European Guides and City Guides on multiple devices. We continue to focus on developing high quality audio-visual experiences for people on the go and have some very exciting products launching in Q4 of 2009.
